TRAVEL agencies beware; the car rental industry is cracking down on multiple bookings for clients that result in no-shows at the rental desk.

To discourage no-shows, Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) are negotiating with Visa and Mastercard on behalf of its car rental members to amend the relevant merchant agreements to allow a penalty to be levied.

SAVRALA General Manager, Val van den Bergh, said this is a necessary move, especially in the run-up to the busy FIFA World Cup period.
