Heavy snow set to return to Scotland
A warning of persistent heavy snowfalls for the next 48 hours has been issued to large parts of Scotland particularly central Tayside and Fife, Grampian and the Highlands. These conditions look set to continue into the weekend but should decrease by Friday night. Drivers are warned to drive with extreme caution and travellers are urged to confirm their travel plans before setting off as these snow conditions could be followed by sleet showers and conditions could then turn icy.
Winter weather returns
A winter storm warning has once again been put into effect for the US northeast and mid-Atlantic areas on Thursday and Friday when heavy snowfalls are expected. Friday’s forecast is said to be the worst as forecasters suggest that a ‘snow hurricane’ would be the correct term to use to describe the conditions forecast. Airlines are issuing travel advisories and travellers should check with the airlines as to what is advised and how they might be affected.
