The Tanzanian ministry of Tourism has declared Songea Town in the Tanzania highlands, a new tourist site. A national museum has been built in the town, which is famous for its history of the first African resistance against German colonisation over 100 years ago. Other tourist attractions include the Matongo Forest Reserve and the German Boma (castle).
