A severe storm, known as Xynthia, has swept across France and Western Europe, forcing France to declare a national disaster. Spain, Portugal, Germany and Belgium all felt the effects of the storm but France was worst hit.
More than a million homes have been left without electricity in France and flights from Paris and Frankfurt have been cancelled.
Travellers are advised to confirm their flights with the airline if they are heading that way in the next day or two.
